Wife Gauri spoke on Shahrukh and her religion: I respect Shahrukh’s religion, but cannot become a Muslim
Shahrukh Khan’s wife Gauri had given a statement in the show Coffee with Karan that she respects Shahrukh Khan’s religion. But this does not mean that she will adopt the Muslim religion. She said that Shahrukh understands this and he also respects her religion. The video of this statement of Gauri is going viral on social media. This video is from 2005, when Gauri had arrived as a guest on the show with actor Hrithik Roshan and his wife Suzanne Khan. Let us tell you, Shahrukh Khan and Gauri got married on 25 October 1991. Initially, Gauri’s family had objections to this marriage because Shahrukh was a Muslim. However, later her family also accepted Shahrukh. After marriage, Shahrukh and Gauri became parents of son Aryan, daughter Suhana and son Abram. In the show Coffee with Karan, Gauri had said – Aryan likes Shahrukh very much and follows his religion. He always says that he is a Muslim. I also respect Shahrukh’s religion. But this does not mean that I will change my religion. I do not believe in it. I think every person should follow his religion. But obviously one should not insult anyone’s religion, just like Shahrukh does not insult my religion either. Some time ago Shahrukh Khan had come to the reality show Dance Plus 5. There he had said- We (Gauri and he) never talked about Hindu-Muslim. My wife is a Hindu and I am a Muslim and my children are Hindustani. When the children started going to school, they had to fill in the form there what their religion is. At that time my daughter was very young. She came to me and asked what our religion is. To this I said that we are Indians, we do not have any separate religion.
