Trip.com Ceases Operations of Trekki NFT Project
Key Takeaways
- Users can continue to claim and use coupons until July 1, 2025
- The team will maintain the official Trekki website, discount page, and coupon redemption functions for a while
Trip.com Group has announced the termination of its first NFT series, “Trekki,” effective August 1, 2024. This decision marks the end of all development for the project’s second-phase features, including dividend pools, staking mechanisms, travel growth mechanisms, and travel-to-earn mechanisms. Additionally, all community operations and collaborative activities related to the Trekki NFT project will be discontinued.
The Trekki team made this announcement on X, expressing regret over the decision. They mentioned, “Considering the unpredictable changes in the future, we do not rule out the possibility of restarting the Trekki project at some point. If the Trekki team launches new projects in the future, additional benefits may be granted to Trekki NFT holders.”
Launched in 2023, the Trekki NFT series consisted of 10,000 dolphin-themed NFTs and aimed to offer holders various experiences and benefits. According to OpenSea, the series has accumulated 556 ETH in trading volumes and has a floor price of 0.0034 ETH. Over 2,000 unique wallets hold Trekki NFTs, which provided staking rewards and discounts on flights and hotel bookings.
Despite the project’s termination, the team will maintain the official Trekki website, discount page, and coupon redemption functions. Users can continue to claim and use coupons until July 1, 2025. Benefits such as Platinum or Diamond memberships and Trip coins will remain valid for one year from the claim date.
The official statement also mentioned that, although the project is ending, there remains a possibility of its revival in the future. If the Trekki team launches new projects, additional benefits may be offered to current Trekki NFT holders.
