‘The Man from Toronto’ Coming to Netflix
Netflix has acquired the rights to Sony Pictures’ action-comedy The Toronto Man, starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson. The film, which was supposed to have a theatrical release on August 12, 2022, will now be streaming in all territories except China (where Sony continues to control all rights) later this year.
In the action-comedy, The Toronto Man, the world’s most dangerous killer (Harrelson) and New York City’s biggest loser Teddy (Hart), are mistaken for each other when they book a place through Airbnb.
The film also stars Kaley Cuoco, Ellen Barkin, Lela Lauren, Tomohisa Yamashita, and other actors. Action director Patrick Hughes, who directed the Killer’s Bodyguard dilogy in a similar genre, relied on a script co-written by Robbie Fox, Chris Bremner, and Jason Blumenthal. It was produced by Todd Black, Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch and executive produced by Bill Bannerman, Aaron L. Gilbert, and Jason Cloth.
Recall that initially, the role of the killer was listed for Jason Statham, but he and the studio did not agree on the rating of the action movie – Statham insisted on a tougher one.
