Sunil Shetty remembers his father’s difficult times: He said, ‘He spent his days sleeping on rice sacks, used to clean tables in a restaurant at the age of 9’




Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty has talked about the difficult times of his father. He told in an interview that when his father Veerappa Shetty ran away from Mangalore to Mumbai at the age of 9, he used to sleep outside restaurants. He used to clean tables. Gradually, on the basis of hard work, he became a restaurant owner. In the podcast of comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa, Sunil Shetty said, ‘My father ran away from home in childhood and came to Mumbai. After coming here, he started working in a South Indian restaurant at the age of nine. His first job was to clean tables. He had small hands, so he had to make four rounds to clean one table. He used to sleep on a sack of rice.’ Father had bought all three buildings Sunil told that on the basis of hard work, his father kept progressing in work. Sunil said, ‘His boss bought three buildings and my father was given the responsibility of managing them. When the boss retired, father bought those three buildings and did a catering business. I still have those three buildings. This is how our journey started.’ Sunil’s father passed away in 2017. Sunil made his Bollywood debut in 1992 Sunil also handled his father’s catering business for many years. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with the film ‘Balwan’. After this, Sunil made a name for himself by giving excellent films like Waqt Hamara Hai (1993), Pehchaan (1993), Dilwale (1994), Mohra (1994), Gopi Kishan (1994), Krishna (1996). His best films also include ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Dhadkan’, ‘Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar’, ‘Phir Hera Pheri’. Even though Sunil is an action hero of Hindi cinema, he got his first award of his career in 2001 for playing a negative role in the film Dhadak.
