SLB came out in support of niece Sharmin Sehgal: Said- I did not cast her because she is my niece, she was fit for the role of ‘Alamzeb’
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series ‘Heeramandi’ has been in the news since its release. Actress Sharmin, who plays the character of Alamzeb in the series, is Sanjay’s niece. Sharmin has been trolled a lot on social media since the day ‘Heeramandi’ was released. Actually, the audience is not liking Sharmin in the character of Alamzeb played by her. Now Sanjay Leela Bhansali was questioned on this during an interview. Supporting his niece, Bhansali talked about her selection process. Sanjay Leela Bhansali said- Sharmin had the perfect face for the role of Alamzeb, which I had seen. If you have seen the role of Alamzeb, then it is shown in it that she does not want to become a courtesan. I was looking for a new fresh face for this role. Whose face also has innocence. Who does not talk like a courtesan. Who is interested in poetry. So keeping all these things in mind, I found Sharmin perfect for the role of Alamzeb. Sanjay Leela Bhansali spoke on trolling of niece Sharmin. Talking about trolling of Sharmin, Sanjay said- I did not cast her because she is my niece. She auditioned for this role many times. During this time she has gone through many tests. I don’t know how many tests I have taken of her, I don’t remember the count properly. When I had decided that I will cast Sharmin, I had told her that you will have to give tests. You will have to have a good grasp of the character of Alamzeb. Because this is a world where you have never stepped before today. You have never acted. All these actors I have cast, all have had a career of years. They have played so many characters. They know what elegance is, how to bring it on screen, but you don’t know. You will have to learn all this. Elegance, tantrums and everything. In this series of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, many actors like Sharmin Sehgal, Richa Chadha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Fardeen Khan, Farida Jalal have been seen in important roles.
