Shabana Azmi spoke on unnecessary demands of actors: We did not have many demands, we used to travel in the bus itself
There has been a debate in the industry for some time now on the unnecessary demands of actors. Now actress Shabana Azmi has also joined this debate. Actors have given their opinion on the ongoing debate about the excessive fees of stars and the increasing expenses in shooting. During an interview with Hindustan Times, Shabana Azmi expressed surprise at the expenditure by producers on stars. Sharing some incidents related to her career, she told how much has changed since then. Shabana Azmi also recalled the days of shooting of the 1983 film ‘Mandi’. She said- During the shooting of the film, Smita Patil and I were given separate cars, but we chose to travel in a bus with the rest of the cast of the film. We enjoyed it a lot. Shabana Azmi said- In low budget films, we had at most drivers, makeup men and hair dressers. I used to wear my own clothes. I always stayed in the same hotel with the unit. We did not have any demands from the producer. Sometimes Sanjeev Kumar and Shatrughan Sinha would bear the expenses of the schedule themselves. Shabana Azmi expressed surprise at the fact that producers have to pay the crazy bills of actors. Today an actor has five vanity vans. One for gymming, one for cooking, one for eating, bathing, practicing and what not? The producer has to bear the expenses of everything.
