Pahlaj Nihalani told an anecdote related to Divya Bharti: He said- ‘She used to shoot for 20 hours, she did not let the shoot get cancelled even after getting a nail in her foot’
Producer Pahlaj Nihalani has praised Bollywood actress Divya Bharti. Remembering Divya, he said that she was a great actress and was also very dedicated towards her work. Divya worked in Pahlaj Nihalani’s produced film ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’. She was seen opposite Govinda in this film released in 1992. Divya continued shooting even when a nail got stuck in her foot. Talking about Divya in an interview, Pahlaj Nihalani said, ‘She was a great girl, always serious about her work. She did not care at all whether she had to work for 20 hours or 24 hours. During ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’ we used to shoot for 20 hours. We used to start shooting in the morning and after that back to back scenes, then dance and then other scenes were shot. One day I remember we were shooting in Ooty and Divya’s foot fell on a nail. She did not tell anything to anyone.’ Nihalani further said, ‘David Dhawan was not present there but an action director was there. I was standing near the monitor when Divya came back for the shoot. She did not let anyone know that she was hurt. I also could not understand, then she asked me for a handkerchief and tied it on the wound on her leg. I asked her what happened, she did not say anything but when I saw blood flowing from her leg, then immediately got the pack up done.’ Divya did not let the pack up happen Nihalani further said, ‘Despite the pack up, she was adamant on shooting, ‘I could not see but despite being so injured, there was no wrinkle on her face. I did the final pack up and informed the production people that there would be no shooting the next day but Divya did not agree. I had told her mother not to send Divya for shooting the next day so that she could rest. But at six in the morning, Divya came to the set and took the keys from the house-keeping and came to me and said, ‘Come on, get up, why are you still sleeping’? She did not want to cancel the shoot due to her reason and then she agreed to complete the shoot. I have many wonderful memories with her.’ Divya died in 1993 Divya was an emerging actress of Bollywood in the 90s.
