NEET UG Counselling postponed, new date likely after Supreme Court hearing on July 8: Here’s a roundup of the latest updates
NEET UG Counselling 2024 Postponed: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) was set to begin the counselling process for All India Quota (AIQ) undergraduate medical seats today. However, this process has now been postponed until further notice.
“The date of counselling will be announced once the exercise gets over to ensure seats of the new colleges can be taken up in the first round itself,” an official source informed PTI.
Last month, the Supreme Court refused to delay the counselling process for the contentious NEET-UG 2024 examination. It was addressing a petition seeking a two-day pause in the process. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier informed the Supreme Court that the counselling would commence on July 6th. The NTA had also scheduled the NEET re-test for June 23, with results expected by June 30 to facilitate the counselling starting on July 6. The exam was conducted, and the results were announced as planned.
With the hearing scheduled for July 8 at the Supreme Court, new dates for NEET UG 2024 counselling is expected to be after the hearing.
