Movie Review- Chandu Champion: Kartik Aaryan emerges as a champion on screen; career best performance, story inspiring, direction also good; only the length may bother you

Kartik Aaryan’s film Chandu Champion has been released in theatres today (14 June). This film is based on the life of the country’s first Paralympic gold medalist Muralikant Petkar. Dainik Bhaskar has given this 2 hour 23 minute long film a rating of 4 stars out of 5. What is the story of the film? The film begins in the 1950s. A boy named Muralikant Petkar is born in a small village in Maharashtra. He has only one dream since childhood that he will get a medal for the country in the Olympics. He is a fan of Dara Singh, so he starts wrestling. However, his family members do not like Murali’s wrestling. Some elite people of the village also do not want to see Murali progress. Muralikant runs away from the village. While running, he boards a train. In that train, Murali meets a man named Karnail Singh, who is going to join the army. He advises Murali that if he wants to go to Olympics, he should first join the army. Murali accepts his advice and joins the army. After some time, he realises that there is no sport like wrestling in Olympics, so he focuses on boxing, a similar competition. Muralikant starts training under Ali Sir (Vijay Raj). This Ali Sir plays the biggest role in Murali’s success. Meanwhile, Muralikant, Karnail Singh and Ali Sir are posted in Kashmir. From here everything changes. Pakistan’s army suddenly attacks. Muralikant gets shot 9 times in this war, yet he survives. However, his dream of going to Olympics seems incomplete, because half of his body gets paralysed. Meanwhile, Muralikant meets Ali Sir again. Ali Sir once again awakens hope in Murali. If not boxing, he encourages Murali to represent India in swimming. In this way, Muralikant Petkar goes to participate in the Paralympics on behalf of India. However, his journey is not easy there either. To know what happens next, you will have to watch the film. How is the acting of the starcast? Kartik Aaryan, who always plays comic and romantic roles, has appeared in a biographical drama film for the first time. His hard work is clearly visible in the role of Muralikant Petkar. His expressions and body language in the film are amazing. If we say that this is the best performance of Kartik’s career, then it will not be wrong. Apart from Kartik, the person who has impressed the most in this film is Vijay Raj. He looks amazing in the role of a strict trainer. Bhuvan Arora’s work in the role of Muralikant’s friend Karnail Singh is also excellent. This is the same Bhuvan Arora, who was seen in the role of Shahid Kapoor’s friend in the web series ‘Farzi’. Rajpal Yadav and Yashpal Sharma are also in the film. Both are perfect in their characters. How is the direction of the film? Kabir Khan, who made films like Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, has directed it. He has tried to keep the story very interesting. He has shown the war and boxing ring sequences very well. The cinematography is also praiseworthy. He has also succeeded in showing on screen what the country would have been like 50-60 years ago. Yes, the length of the film may bother some people. Some people may also call it slow. How is the music of the film? The songs of the film are perfect for every sequence. They will not hurt your ears. However, they are not so good that they can be remembered or heard again. Final verdict, should you watch it or not? There is no doubt that this film will inspire you. When you leave the theatre, you will have a desire to achieve something. This film is the story of a man who was lost somewhere in the pages of history. You will get a chance to know the glorious story of that person through the film. If you are fond of such serious films, then you can definitely go to the theatre. Apart from this, if you are a fan of Karthik, then you can go with your eyes closed.
