Meerut’s Manasi Maheshwari’s animated film ‘Bunnyhood’ has won the La Cinéfe Third Prize at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The premiere of this 9-minute film was shown in Cannes, which was highly appreciated by the audience. The first prize of La Cinéfe was won by Chidanand S Naik’s Indian Kannada film ‘Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know About Us’. The second prize was won by Columbia University’s Asiya Segalovich’s movie ‘Out of the Widow Through the Wall’ and Greece’s ‘Thessaloniki’. For the first time, two Indian films have been awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. This is being considered a big victory for India. The Indian Kannada film is based on a folktale. This movie received a prize of 15,000 Euros. The second winning movie received a prize money of 11,250 Euros. Manasi received 7500 Euros as a prize. The movie is related to that.” The subject of the movie and the animation effect are the main reasons for its selection in Cannes. Mansi used to watch only cartoons in her childhood. Mansi used the oldest form of animation, cell animation, butter paper and frosted acetate in the movie. So that the film can be given a vintage look and feel. That is why there are limited colors in it. Mansi was fond of watching cartoons in her childhood. Often her brother used to say, “If you will only watch cartoons, how will you grow up?” Father businessman, mother designer.
