ET Now Live: India has made a name for itself in I.T services. But the current government at the Centre also wants a decisive push in manufacturing. In fact, external affairs minister S Jaishankar recently went on to say that focus on services was actually an elegant excuse for being incompetent. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Union Cabinet has approved the PLI scheme for I.T hardware with a budgetary outlay of ₹ 17,000 crores. It is estimated that the electronics manufacturing in India has grown at a rate of 17 percent per year to cross 100 billon dollars this year. How significant is this PLI scheme?
