Advocating a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin, “…For restoration of peace, India is ready to cooperate in all ways…I assure you and the world community that India is in favour of peace. Listening to my friend Putin talk about peace yesterday, gives me hope. I would like to say to my media friends – Possible.” He added, “Be it war, conflicts, terror attacks – everyone who believes in humanity is pained when there is loss of lives. But when innocent children are murdered, when we see innocent children dying, it is heart-wrenching. That pain is immense. I also held a detailed discussion with you over this.”

In an apparent response to western media’s criticism of India purchasing Russian oil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “When the world was facing the challenge of fuels, your support helped us fulfil the petrol and diesel requirements of the common man. Not just this, the world should accept that India-Russia agreement regarding fuel played a big role in bringing stability to the international market.” PM Modi made the remarks at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

We have been facing for 40 years, how horrible and disgusting terrorism is. So, when terror incidents occurred in Moscow, when terror incidents occurred in Dagestan, I can imagine how deep its pain would be. I strongly condemn all kinds of terrorism.”
Widespread rainfall in Rajasthan: Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur record heavy showers
Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur recorded heavy showers during a 24-hour period as widespread rainfall continued in Rajasthan. In the 24 hours ended at 8:30 am on Tuesday, light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder, occurred at some places while heavy rain was recorded at some places in Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur districts, the regional Met office in Jaipur said. The Met office has predicted rain and thunder in some parts of Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Jaipur, Ajmer and Bikaner divisions in the next two days.
India added 470 mn jobs in FY24 over 27 sectors, total number of employed people touch 643 mn-mark: RBI
India added nearly 470 million jobs during 2023-24, taking the total number of employed people to 643 million spread over 27 sectors covering the entire economy, according to Reserve Bank data. The number of employed people was 596.7 million at the end of March 2023, said the RBI’s update on ‘Measuring Productivity at the Industry Level-The India KLEMS [Capital (K), Labour (L), Energy (E), Material (M) and Services (S)] Database’. Using the Tornqvist Aggregation formula, the RBI said the annual growth in employment during 2023-24 was 6 per cent compared to 3.2 per cent in the year-ago period.
Court takes cognisance of EDs 7th supplementary chargesheet, summons Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
A Delhi court on Tuesday took cognisance of the seventh supplementary chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy “scam”. The federal probe agency has named Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party in the supplementary chargesheet. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja took cognisance of the chargesheet and issued summons to Kejriwal for July 12.

Govt should come up with alternative mechanisms of MSP to ensure fair price for farmers: SBI
In its recently-released research report, the State Bank of India has suggested the Centre to devise methods other than MSP to support farmers in the upcoming Union Budget. The report noted that government procurement of crops is just limited to 6 per cent of the total produce.

Kissing video row: Delhi HC junks plea against Dalai Lama over ‘molestation’ of minor boy
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a public interest litigation over the alleged molestation of a boy by the Dalai Lama, as claimed to have been shown in a video clip that went viral last year, saying the religious leader was “being playful” and has already apologised for the incident. In the clip, the Dalai Lama was seen kissing the boy on the lips and asking him to “suck his tongue”, which sparked a row on social media. The petitioner, ‘Confederation of NGOs’, urged the court to pass directions to the authorities to take cognisance of the alleged incident under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and also ensure that the identity of the child is retracted from news portals.
