IIT Roorkee to conduct GATE 2025: Paper pattern, exam syllabus released at gate2025.iitr.ac.in


NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes. The institute has released the GATE 2025 syllabus and GATE 2025 exam pattern on the new official website, gate.iitr.ac.in.
Exam Details
Mode of Examination: The test papers will be in English and conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) at select centers in select cities.
Duration: The exam will last for 3 hours.
Number of Subjects (Papers): There are 30 subjects (papers) available.

For papers Architecture (AR), Chemistry (CY), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA), Ecology and Evolution (EY), Geology and Geophysics (GG), Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH), Statistics (ST), Humanities and Social Sciences (XH), and Life Sciences (XL):
• General Aptitude: 15 marks

Marking Scheme
Questions carry either 1 mark or 2 marks.
Negative Marking:
For a wrong answer in a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), negative marking applies:
• 1/3 mark deducted for a 1-mark MCQ.
• 2/3 mark deducted for a 2-mark MCQ.
No negative marking for wrong answers to Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. No partial marking in Multiple Select Questions (MSQ).
