I was not comfortable working with a big hero: Isha Koppikar said- ‘When I hugged him in a romantic scene, I felt like a father, not a lover’
Isha Koppikar recently talked about her struggling phase and challenges in Bollywood. She also said how uncomfortable she felt romancing an older hero onscreen. In an interview, Isha said that while doing this, she felt as if she was hugging her father. ‘I don’t feel comfortable working with an older hero’ In an interview to Siddharth Kannan, Isha said, ‘I felt uncomfortable working with a hero 30 or 20 years older than me. I too used to feel quite uncomfortable when I used to work in films. Working with an older hero does not give the feeling of hugging a partner or lover, rather it feels like you are hugging your father. I used to feel the same. I was new then, I thought this is what happens in films. Then I used to explain to myself that you should focus on your part and not on someone’s age.’ Audience is not stupid: Isha Isha said on the onscreen romance of senior actors with young actresses, ‘Senior actors should understand how they look now and then choose roles accordingly. I hope that this changes now because the audience is not stupid. I have heard the audience in the theatre saying, how old he looks, sitting at home, romancing a girl of his daughter’s age. The audience boldly says what is true. Because of social media, everyone knows the truth now.’ Isha, who became famous as ‘Khalsa Girl’, made her debut with the Tamil film ‘Kaadhal Kavithai’ in 1998. She also received the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for this film. Isha made her Bollywood debut with the 2000 film ‘Fiza’. Karisma Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan were in the lead roles in this film. She has worked in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi and Hindi films so far. Isha’s iconic films include ‘Krishna Cottage’, ‘Don’, ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’, ‘LOC Kargil’ and ’36 China Town’. Isha sang the song ‘Khalsa’ in the 2002 film ‘Company’, due to which she gained a lot of popularity.
