‘I don’t know anything except acting’: Comedian Sunil Grover said- The best part of my career is yet to come

Actor and comedian Sunil Grover was recently seen in the film ‘Black Out’. His character in this film has a grey shade. Moving away from his comic image, he has shown a new side of himself in this. Meanwhile, he had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar. Sunil said, ‘I don’t know anything other than acting. The best part of my career is yet to come.’ Apart from this, he also talked about his film ‘Black Out’. How did you get the script of ‘Black Out’? I got a call from Neeraj Kothari ji. He told me that the writers of this film, Abbas and Hussain Dalal, want to tell you something. Then later when I went to meet him, director Devang was also there who has written this story with Abbas and Hussain. When I heard the story, I enjoyed it. I felt I should do this film and then I agreed to it. There is a lot of suspense in this whole film. There is some suspense associated with my character as well. Those who have not seen this film yet, I want them to watch it. When I read all the suspense while reading the script, I felt very good. I also got a lot of feedback that people are liking my character a lot. I heard that you had some physical problem when you came to shoot for this? I had some health issues before starting the shooting of this but I started shooting only after they were cured. Yes, I have also done some action scenes in this but I did not face much difficulty in doing them. Apart from this, the experience of working with director Devang Bhavsar was very good. I enjoyed doing this character a lot. The people associated with it are also very good. What projects do you have in the future? There is also a web series, work on which is also going to start from next month. Also, there is a film whose shooting I will start in July. I will not be able to reveal the name at the moment. During the break from Kapil Sharma’s show, did you ever feel that ‘Chala Lallan Hero Banane…’ should be started again? I believe that everything has a lifespan. There was a time when I was doing the show ‘Chala Lallan Hero Banane’. At that time, people liked that show a lot. I had taken many different avatars in it. I myself also enjoyed that show a lot. Almost I did that show for two years. After that I started a different journey, did different characters. If I kept doing the same, how would I get out of it. However, I had a lot of fun doing that show. It is a lot of fun to do different characters. Since 2013, you have been continuously seen in only one project every year. Any special reason? For 5-6 years, I was busy with Kapil Sharma’s show. In such a situation, I did not have time to do other projects. If I got some time in between, I used to do films as well. Then when I get a project, after reading it, I feel that it will be fun to do it, then I take out time for that. It also depends on what and how the other projects are coming. If I get 5 good projects in a year, then I will do all of them. You have been in the industry for such a long time, do you think you have got the right due in films? I think I have got more than I expected. I believe that everything has a journey. Even if the beginning was a little slow, it took time to achieve something. I enjoyed even that time when there was no work or less work. I felt from within that I will not get this time again, so enjoy it. Then when I got busy, I enjoyed that phase a lot. Now I work as per my choice, which I like. I also consider myself very lucky that I got a chance to work with good people. My wish in the future is to do different types of characters, do them in different ways. Do you think that you are getting more attention in web series? I have got good screen space in web series. It is not that I have to do something different from my comic image in the web space. I am happy with my comic image. I am lucky that I got a chance to do different types of work. I am thankful to those directors who used me in different ways. I am happy about this. Do you personally have any problem with the tag of a comic actor? It is not just about the genre here. There should be a good script. I would like to do any genre. Suppose there is a comedy script whose story is excellent and on the other hand, the script of another genre is average, then I will do comedy only. I will do the one whose script is good, the character is good. What is there in this field that you have not explored yet? I have explored more than what I had to. I do not know anything other than acting. I do not try my hand in any other field. I enjoy only acting. I cannot do writing or direction or any other work. I have no experience in these things and neither am I interested. The best in my career is yet to come slowly.
