Despite the film background, the path was not easy: Allu Arjun said – ‘Despite the first film being a hit, the makers used to reject it because of the looks’
Despite being from a film background, it was not easy for Allu Arjun to make a place in the film world. Recently in an event, he revealed that in the initial phase of his career, he had a lot of trouble in getting work because according to the filmmakers, he was not good looking. Allu made his debut in 2003 with the film ‘Gangotri’. After this, he got his first success with director Sukumar’s romantic drama film ‘Arya’. Recently, an event was organized in Hyderabad on the completion of 20 years of this film. Allu also reached the event and said about his film journey, ‘My first film ‘Gangotri’ did well but my failure as an artist was that I could not make my mark. I had gone from zero to minus zero. I was nothing. But everything changed after attending the screening of actor Nitin’s film ‘Dil’. Sukumar approached me for the film ‘Arya’. He was a new director and I liked the story written by him. Chiranjeevi ji also listened to the script of the film and I did the film. This film had completed 125 days in the theater and only then I felt confident that I too can prove myself and move forward. Sukumar told at this event that the story of ‘Arya’ was first narrated to Prabhas and Ravi Teja but after the refusal of both, Allu Arjun was signed. Allu also told at the event that despite his first film ‘Gangotri’ performing well at the box-office, he was facing difficulty in getting work because wherever he went, people used to reject him because of his looks. ‘Arya-2’ released after 5 years, Allu became success guarantee for Sukumar. After ‘Arya’, Allu worked in films like ‘Bunny’, ‘Happy’, ‘Desamuduru’ and ‘Parugu’ in his career. All of these were hits. Allu and Sukumar worked together once again in ‘Arya 2’, released in 2009. Like ‘Arya’, this film was also a superhit and thus Allu became a success guarantee for Sukumar. Born in a film family, Allu was born on 8 April 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
