DDLJ’s song ‘Tujhe Dekha..’ became UK’s favourite song: BBC named it the favourite Bollywood song of the 90s, there were 50 songs in the list
Shahrukh Khan and Kajol starrer ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ (DDLJ) released in 1995 was a huge hit not only in the country but also abroad. Fans of this movie are found not only in India but all over the world. Now BBC has voted the song ‘Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam’ from this movie as UK’s most favourite 90s Bollywood song. A list of 50 songs was prepared BBC Asia Network recently invited some listeners. They were given a list of 50 Bollywood songs of the 90s. This list was prepared by station representatives like Haroon Rashid and Gagan Grewal who were present on the panel. It was also shortlisted with the help of some industry experts. There were other songs from the 90s in the list. The list also included songs like ‘Ole-Ole’ from Saif-Akshay and Kajol starrer ‘Yeh Dillagi’ and ‘Baahon Ke Darmiyan’ from Salman-Manisha starrer ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’. Out of all these, ‘DDLJ’ song ‘Tujhe Dekha..’ was chosen as the winner. The song ‘Tujhe Dekha..’ was sung by Kumar Sanu and Swar Kokila Lata Mangeshkar. The song was filmed on Shahrukh and Kajol. DDLJ, released in 1995, was an iconic love story of two characters named Raj and Simran. It is an all-time blockbuster film in the history of Hindi cinema. It is also the longest running Indian film in theatres.
