Ban on ‘Humare Barah’ a day before its release: Supreme Court said the film’s trailer is objectionable, its release has been postponed twice




The Supreme Court has stayed the release of Annu Kapoor’s much talked about film Hamare Barah after a hearing on June 13. The screening will remain banned till the matter is settled. The film was scheduled to release on June 14. The makers are accused of insulting Islamic customs and married Muslim women through this film. The Supreme Court has passed this order against the decision of the Bombay High Court. Actually, the film was earlier scheduled to release on June 7. A Pune resident had filed a petition against the film. After which the Bombay High Court, after hearing both the parties, stayed the release of the film. The next hearing regarding the film was held on June 10. In this hearing, the Bombay High Court cleared the way for the release of the film, when the makers agreed to remove two dialogues from the film. While giving the verdict, the High Court had said – Our decision is to bring equality. In such controversial matters, it is necessary to watch the film before giving the final decision. After this decision of the court, the makers had announced the release of the film on June 14. Now the Supreme Court has passed an order against the decision of the Bombay High Court and has banned the release of the film. Court says- Teaser is objectionable According to the report of Live Law, the bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta has ordered that the film will not be released until the Bombay High Court takes a decision in this matter. Justice Mehta called the trailer of the film objectionable and said- We have seen the trailer this morning. It is very objectionable. What is the story of the film The trailer of the film shows that women of a particular religion are being tortured in the name of religion. They are being forced and pressured to have children. In the film, Annu Kapoor has played the role of a Muslim man Mansoor Ali Khan, whose first wife dies while giving birth to a child and his second wife is pregnant for the sixth time. Doctors say that she can even lose her life in pregnancy, but Khan refuses to get an abortion. In such a situation, Khan’s elder daughter drags her father to court to save her stepmother and demands abortion for her mother. Annu Kapoor had demanded security The film ‘Humare Barah’ has been surrounded by controversies since the trailer and teaser were released. The actors of the film are also receiving death and rape threats. Meanwhile, Annu Kapoor had released a video and demanded security from Maharashtra Police and Home Ministry. In this connection, he also met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday.
