Actress Sumona Chakraborty followed the path of Neena Gupta: Kapil Sharma’s co-star was once unemployed, said- ‘There is no shame in asking for work’
Sumona Chakraborty started her acting career about 18 years ago. He has worked in many shows like ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’, ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. Despite this, he had to face unemployment at some point. In an interview given to Dainik Bhaskar, Sumona has told that in real life she is of introvert nature, due to which she did not get work. However, inspired by Neena Gupta, she now asks people for work without any hesitation. Let us tell you, Sumona will soon be seen as a contestant in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 14’. Read some important excerpts from the conversation: After rejecting ‘KKK’ earlier, why did you agree this time? Actually, this show was offered earlier also but due to my old work commitments, I could not agree. This time I had no work. As soon as the makers approached, I immediately said yes. How fit do you consider yourself for the show? My workout and fitness journey has been going on since 2011. For this show I have only increased my cardio exercises. Two years ago I injured my shoulder. Now there is complete focus on that old injury. Well, no matter how much physical preparation you do, the reality is that during stunts, it is very important to be mentally strong. I am mentally fit. Yoga and meditation have taught me to handle every situation in my life. Self discipline is most important for me. I wake up every day at 5.30 am. I sleep by 10.30 pm. I work out every day. Doesn’t eat outside food at all. Even during shooting, I eat home-made food. For the last several years, I have been living a disciplined life. I am sure that this discipline will help me take forward in this show. What is the reason that now you are asking people for work? I had to face many challenges in my professional life. Actually, I liked to remain confined to myself, not to talk openly to anyone, not to mingle with people easily and to speak less. The biggest challenge was to overcome my introvert nature. I could not get work. I remember that earlier I used to get many invitations for Page-3 party. But I did not go. I couldn’t be fake. I like to talk but only with those with whom I can have some intellectual conversation. Instead of meeting people, I kept myself busy reading books, traveling solo, listening to music. But because of this nature people stopped approaching me. Stopped getting work. So, now I have started networking. I tell people upfront that I want to work with you. Earlier there was a lot of hesitation in doing all this, but not anymore. For the last 2-3 years I have not been shy in asking for work. I got this inspiration from Neena Gupta ji. Despite having so many years of experience, she can ask for work on social media, so why can’t I? People think I have pride. Or I don’t have time for work. But it is not so at all. People’s thinking has to be changed. I have now started messaging the director, creative director, everyone. I have full confidence in my talent. What kind of concepts do you want to be associated with in future? I want to do all kinds of work but thriller is my favorite genre. Personally, I love watching murder-crime series. Now I want to play the role of a villain on screen. By the way, there is a desire to do something similar to the work Ranbir Kapoor did in the film ‘Animal’. Over the last few years, an image has developed for me. I want to break it.
