Actress Shalini Pandey spoke about the rape scene in ‘Maharaj’: I was worried about this scene, the character also looked stupid
Shalini Pandey made her screen debut in the film Arjun Reddy. Shalini has recently appeared in the film ‘Maharaj’ alongside Junaid Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sharvari Wagh. Shalini talked about the rape scene of the film during an interview. In this scene, Shalini is forced to have sex with Jadunath Maharaj, the character played by Jaideep. Shalini said – she was very upset doing this scene. When she first read her scene, she thought her character was of a ‘stupid’ girl. But later she realized that the girl had no idea of right and wrong. She later believed that what she was doing was right. In the film, Jaideep is seen playing the role of a Baba from the 1800s, who has created a myth around him, in which young women are convinced that they have to present themselves to him in a ceremony called ‘Charan Seva’. He has made them believe that being raped by Baba is sacred for them. On the other hand, the society has closed its eyes even after seeing everything. Shalini told Bollywood Hungama- When I did the ‘charan seva’ scene with Maharaj, I did not realize what effect it had on me, because I did the scene and suddenly, I went out. I told my team that I do not want to stay in a closed room, I need time, I need some fresh air, I am getting a little restless. But later I understood the character properly. Shalini was seen with Ranveer Shalini Pandey was seen in Ranveer Singh’s film Jayeshbhai Jordaar, released in the year 2022. In this film, Shalini played the role of Jayesh’s wife Mudra, who becomes pregnant again after the birth of a daughter. Earlier, she had made her Bollywood debut with the film Meri Nimmo, which was released in the year 2018.
